About Sameera Ahmed
Sameera Ahmed, Ph.D., is the Founder of The Family and Youth Institute (TheFYI.org), a leading mental health research and education organization focused on strengthening Muslim individuals, families, and communities through Community Based Participatory Research approach. A clinical psychologist, Dr. Ahmed is recognized for her work in Muslim mental health, including co-editing Counseling Muslims and served as a Founding Associate Editor of the Journal of Muslim Mental Health. As a leading expert on American Muslim youth, she has authored groundbreaking publications such as The State of American Muslim Youth and Uplifting Black Muslim Youth and has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, The Atlantic, and invited to events hosted by the White House and other federal agencies.
