Chi-Care Med is a mobile street medicine initiative working to meet people where they are and bring basic healthcare to Chicago’s unhoused population. We believe healthcare is a human right, and no one should be forced to choose between dignity and access.

Or medical program delivers basic medical care, health screenings, wound care, hygiene supplies, and referrals directly to individuals living on the streets of Chicago. Our trained medical teams work in close partnership with outreach workers and community organizations to ensure our neighbors receive compassionate, low-barrier care.

Our approach is trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and person-centered. We don’t just treat symptoms – we build trust, listen, and advocate.

Services We Provide

General wellness checks

First aid & wound care

Blood pressure & blood sugar screenings

Hygiene kit distribution

COVID/flu testing

Referrals to primary care, mental health, substance use services, and shelters

Chi-Care’s Mobile Meal Outreach Routes operate year-round to provide warm meals, hydration, essential supplies, and compassionate connection to individuals experiencing homelessness throughout Chicago. Our volunteer teams travel along pre-mapped routes across the city, stopping at encampments, transit hubs, underpasses, and other areas where support is needed most. By bringing resources directly to our unhoused neighbors, we reduce barriers to access and ensure that no one is overlooked.

Each route is staffed by trained volunteers who distribute meals, offer hygiene kits, share information about local services, and take time to listen. Our approach prioritizes dignity, respect, and relationship-building, supporting both immediate needs and long-term stability. Whether serving a dozen people or several hundred, every route strengthens community—one conversation, one meal, one connection at a time.

Interested in joining us? Weekly volunteer opportunities are available across multiple neighborhoods.

Harm reduction is the non-judgmental, non-coercive provision of services and resources to people who use drugs and the communities in which they live in order to assist them in reducing harm.

Our harm reduction initiative runs in tandem with our mobile routes, providing those at risk in our communities with safer-use smoking and injecting supplies, as well as safer sex supplies. Through these practices, we are able to provide community members with the safe supplies and resources the need to take control of their lives.

Chi-Care’s Wellness Fairs are community-centered events designed to bring essential wrap-around care and services directly to individuals experiencing homelessness or instability. At each fair, guests can access warm meals prepared by Chi-Care alongside vital resources such as basic medical care, housing guidance, social services, hygiene supplies, mobile showers, and seasonal clothing. By centralizing these services in accessible public spaces, we help reduce barriers and ensure that those in need can receive care with dignity.

Our Wellness Fair operations began through an ongoing partnership with The Night Ministry, where Chi-Care provides meals every Thursday at the Forest Park Blue Line station. As the community need continues to grow, we have expanded to additional locations across the city, increasing our ability to reach more neighbors facing hardship. Each fair is staffed by compassionate volunteers and partner organizations who work collectively to address both immediate needs and long-term stability.

With every meal served, connection made, and resource provided, Wellness Fairs help build a healthier, more humane Chicago for all.
